Boxing Clever for Charity
18/03/2007
Packaging factory workers came up with an unusual way to raise funds for Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
Staff at Belmont Packaging had the idea of selling off obsolete machinery and equipment stored at their premises in Hindley Green and donating the cash to charity.
And since advertising the items in the Corrugated Board International Trade Journal, they have raised £2,000.
Darren Christy, the firm's production team manager said: "We've had enquiries from as far away as India, Nigeria and Poland, and we've even had a visitor from Slovenia."
Prize Package: Auxiliary Nurse Hilda Barton of Wigan and Leigh Hospice is presented with £2,000 by Bev Bretherton, Wayne Grimshaw, Darren Christy and Simon Glover of Belmont Packaging.
